Hey there! It's my first post here.
I would like to share with you guys some of the nice food I had in Sabah for the past few days.
I dunno if you guys have come across this video:
just to try out the 3 dishes mentioned:
Pork Noodle (生肉面)
Spring Noodle (弹弓面)
Tuaran Mee ( Tuaran 面)
And also, Sabah is known for their seafood.
So here we go! Sabah, Food trip!
We actually had our dinner twice in the same restaurant.
Welcome Seafood Restaurant.
So, we get to try a total of 14 dished in there, which were all good!
Fried Pucuk Paku
沙巴薯仔菜
This was great, we ordered this for both the dinners.
Crunchy, fresh, healthy!
I would like to say it again, every dishes we had in the restaurant were great.
But I will give credit to the one I love more personally.
Pork Rib Kind vs Mongolian Pork Rib
排骨王 vs 蒙古排骨
Mongolian Pork Rib has my vote, like definitely!
The gravy was so nice, some of them said it was overly sweet, but I think it was fine.
I can have two bowls of rice just with this dish! Must try!
Braised Bean Curd with Vegetables & Prawns vs Deep Fried Bean Curd
星光豆腐 vs 招牌豆腐
I guess I won't make a stand on this.
It's just depends you like it with gravy, healthy with mix vegetables type or crispy, crunchy, nice to eat but not so healthy type.
Sweet & Sour Scallop vs Fried Lala with Ginger & Spring Onion
酸甜扇贝 vs 姜葱沙白
Personally, I am a Lala's fans. ok, this sounds wrong.
What I meant was, I love clams, any type of clams with any cooking style.
These clams are freaking huge, about 3 times bigger than the normal ones?
But the taste was just normal, it was really fresh though.
Everyone loves the sweet and sour scallop! They just love it!
The sauce is so thick and delicious. Must try!
But well, I am still a Lala's fans, I mean, clams.
Steam Prawn vs Dry Butter Prawn
白灼虾 vs 奶油虾
Dry Butter Prawn has my vote! Must try!
The fried egg thingy on top was so awesome. It was so delicious and tasty.
And you can have it with butter sauce instead of dry one, depends which favors you.
Steam Fish with Soy Sauce & Kam Heong Crab
清蒸鱼 & 金香螃蟹
For both the dinners, we have different types of fish with same cooking style.
I can't really remember what fish we ordered, but the meat was so smooth and nice.
Fish was fresh and the sauce was awesome!
Kam Heong Crab was equally awesome, and it was surprisingly cheap!
If the crabs have more meat in them, it would be perfect.
Okay, I really miss all these right now.
Fried Soft Shell Crab vs Fried Sotong
炸软壳蟹 vs 炸苏东
I love these two dishes. Please try both!
But if I really got to choose, I will give my vote to fried sotong.
The meat was incredibly thick, with thin layer of flour surrounding them.
So crispy, so tasty, so satisfied.
At night, there are markets selling all kinds of fruits, vegetables and food.
You can choose your favorite kind of seafood from stalls like these:
They will grill it for you, and all you need to do is sit back and relax.
Grill Sotong, Prawn and Fish.
The food was moderate. Not that awesome or fabulous.
It was the atmosphere that made everything right. Worth a try!
which only cost RM1!

Coconut
Of course, you need this to make everything perfect, which only cost RM1!
Alright, now I am going to post about the dishes mentioned in the video above.
Kedai Kopi Jia Siang (家香生肉面 )
Pork Noodle (生肉面)
Finally! the highlight of the trip! Pork Noodle and Soup.
Frankly speaking, the noodles were really really oily.
They were like coated with a layer of lard.
But then, it tasted great with the sourish chili sauce, plus the soup was really nice.
Not a healthy meal to have but worth a try when you're in Sabah.
If you really don't feel like having an oily meal, maybe you should try this:
Pork Noodle Soup
And they also served many kinds of side dishes.
From the left: Stew Chicken Feet, Fried Eggplant, Tou Fu Pok.
I like the tou fu pok personally, nothing fancy about it, but it was pretty tasty.
The other two was just normal. Not that great I would say.
Not to forget this,
Kat Zai Xun Mui(桔子酸梅)
Must try! Perfect match with the Pork Noodle.
The only word I can think of to describe this was " SYOK"
Jeong Hin Coffee Shop(永兴 茶店)
Tuaran Noodle (Tuaran 面)
This looks like Wantan Mee right? It tasted like Wantan Mee too!
With extra sidelines like cha siew and fish cake.
I kinda like this one. Simple and nice.
The crunchy fried onions just made things more perfect.
I actually added dark soy sauce on it, so it looks more like Wantan Mee, Heh!
Worth a try!
And so, I am sorry to say I didn't manage to try Spring Noodle (弹弓面) due to the limited time we had in Sabah. Therefore, no photos nor reviews. :(
Or maybe, if you guys have tried it, feel free to drop a comment and tell us how was it?
That would be great and we will be more than happy to read them!
Thanks for spending time with me.
with love, xiao shuang.
